Wills By Mail
Thomas E. Stirewalt, Jr. is a licensed LOUISIANA ATTORNEY.
Disclaimer: The product listed on this page is intended for use IN Louisiana, BY Louisiana residents. The statements made and forms furnished may not be valid outside of the State of Louisiana. Purchase/Use of this product DOES NOT ESTABLISH ANY ATTORNEY-CLIENT RELATIONSHIP.This is for the production of a Louisiana Statutory Will. It results in a simple will that meets the legal requirements of the State of Louisiana, in which you state your wishes as to who gets what when you die. WHY DO YOU NEED A WILL? First, if you are married, your spouse DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY INHERIT ANYTHING FROM YOUR ESTATE! You must give your spouse "stuff" by way of a will. Second, if you have children who were not born "of the marriage" you are currently in, those children can force your surviving spouse to sell the community home to buy them out, unless you provide differently in a will. There are lots of other reasons too. Key Benefits of a Will-By-Mail
Pricing:InfoPac via U.S.Mail, when you send a self-addressed, stamped #10 envelope to Wills-By-Mail InfoPac; POB 1242; Metairie, LA 70004-1242 = FREE You may read and/or print out your own copy of the InfoPac for Wills - By - Mail by clicking here. It is about 8 legal-size pages long. It is just like the one you can get via snail-mail above. Prepared "simple" will, ready for signature before a Notary Public = $35.00* assuming a properly filled out information form. Improperly filled out information forms & payment will be returned, less a $5.00 handling charge - you may then make corrections/changes and resubmit with another $35.00 fee. Further instructions are in the InfoPac. * You will have to pay the Notary a fee at the signing, usually about $10.00, oh yes, bring your own witnesses to the Notary's office. Louisiana Living Will is a complete Freebie!
It does not require that your signature be notarized. Anyone over
the age of 18 can be a witness, except people
who will receive anything from your estate should you die. Print
out a copy of the web-page, make photocopies, then sign (original
signatures) as many photocopies as you think you will need (a photocopy
of an already signed Living Will is no good). You will need one
for your doctor's office, an extra one for the doctor to take with him
to the hospital, one for your wallet/purse, one for the
glove-compartment of each vehicle, one or two for each child (or other
relative) who may be contacted if you wind up in a hospital, etc. |
